Get creative this summer with our Summer Creative Workshops for children at MICAS!
These workshops are curated to inspire curiosity and creativity. MICAS has designed different workshops that blend art, storytelling, and exploration, all within the setting of a contemporary art museum.
Workshop 1: MELA – Hidden stories in colour, 18th July
Colour holds a thousand stories. This workshop introduces participants to Reggie Burrows Hodges’ distinctive artistic process, particularly his use of darkness, layering, colour, and hidden forms. Rather than painting exactly what they see, children are encouraged to think about how artists can express movement, atmosphere, memory, and feeling.
Both workshops are designed for children aged 6 years and above, and we kindly ask that all participants be accompanied and supervised by an adult throughout the session.
Workshop 2: STORIES IN STONE – What story would you leave behind? 25th July
What if the marks we leave behind could tell a story? Inspired by the visible graffiti, carvings, symbols, and historical marks found throughout the MICAS site, this workshop invites children to investigate how the building has transformed across time and to create their own mark.
